Blood, sweat & luxuries

Many days I find it hard to live my every day life without looking around me and thinking that so many things we are doing here are just plain absurd. Walking around in the centre of my town often makes me feel like this world, the way it is now, was never ment to be like this. People strolling around from shop to shop with all these plastic bags in their hands filled with goodies... and even more goodies in their eyes. How have we become this way? How can we randomly buy and want all these products, knowing (or maybe it's better to say NOT knowing) how and by who these things are made? When did we become so ignorant and greedy?

Yes, it makes me angry, frustrated, and unhappy to live in a world like this. I try my best to live my life, without destroying life here on earth. It just makes my head spin, the way we lack in our respect towards other people that can barely feed their children with the money they make by sewing my shoes and jackets. Let alone the way we treat our earth.

Okay, I'm not fairy godmother 24/7. I also do my grocery shopping at local supermarkets where not all the products I buy are fair-trade. Even though I think about it every day.

Where do all these products come from? How am I able to just go to a shop and find what I'm looking for multiplied with 2000?

After seeing episodes of this tv-show, I was so impressed by the way they brought the information to my livingroom and were able to confront me and made me think even more. The first episode made me quit eating meat and question buying leather. The second one I saw made me stop wanting to drink coffee that's not fair trade. The last one made me realise I want to do something about this, and spread the word, and maybe being able to do something about the crazy world we are living in.

Open your eyes and see what is really going on. And please think again before you buy something random!

1 love, maisja
